Sorry for the long absence. I've been incredibly busy so I haven't had a lot of time for posting. But today, I am posting! And not just any old post, but the 30th Podcast! I can't believe I'm on Podcast #30. This one, if I dare say, is awesome! Finally, the Third Indiana Jones Story Album!

After years of saying I will post "The Story of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade", I am finally keeping true to my word! Here is the third and final story record from the Indiana Jones legacy. As with The Temple of Doom, there is plenty of dialogue, music and sound effects from the film with an added bonus: deleted scenes!!!! The album was obviously produced before the final cut of the film was released and as a result there are many scenes included or described on the album that were never in the film! Super cool! Podcast #27 - Bring on The Freakshow!

Yet another Podcast comes flying out of the gates and this time it gets weird! I spun so many odd ball moments into this that it definitely earns the title of "Wacky Podcast". With some great performances from Annette Funicello, the 5, 6, 7, 8's, Thurl Ravenscroft, Elvis Presley, Lesley Gore, Aimee Mann, Mickey Katz, The Osmonds, Leonard Nimoy, Dustin Hoffman & Warren Beatty, the Maggies, Duran Duran, the Ting Tings and much much more. The Best of The World of Wonder: Logan's Original Run

Since Rapidshare deleted a ton of my shares, the one that I get the most requests to re-up is, without a doubt, the audio from the advance screening of Logan's Run. So, as requested, here it is.


5 years from the day I was born, in San Diego, California, there was a special advance preview screening of a new motion picture from MGM called Logan's Run. Shortly thereafter the studio hacked a ton of stuff out of the movie to make it shorter, and gain the film a PG rating. The cut footage no longer exists (it vanished mysteriously along with the preview print)but thanks to a sci-fi fan named Fay Popejoy who took along a cassette tape recorder into the theater, an audio cassette exists containing the entire preview screening. This recording was originally released on a web site back in 2000. The web site is still there but the files have long since been taken down. Luckily, I happened to download those files and present them for you now. If you have seen the film, then you are in for a real treat. Included in this recording of the preview screening are several scenes that you have never seen bfore (or heard before to be exact). Among these are the deleted opening sequence where Francis kills a runner in a residence pool. The citizens then applaud the Sandman's shot. Other hilights include: A longer carousel sequence minus the computer voice, more dialogue in Nursery, Francis' 'lastday girl' cut completely form the film. There is also a part where Jessica talks about flameout as the ultimate thrill. Logan describes the effects of Muscle. Francis announces he is going to Cathedral to help backup Logan. We learn Holly's number is 13, and hear the infamous longer Love Shop sequence. Unfortunately the person doing the recording's tape also ran out during this sequence. Of course, the tape is changed and the rest of the film along with more cut goodies are there. Now, remember, this was a tape recording of a film being played in a theater in 1976. It is not going to sound perfect. But, none the less, it is still pretty cool to listen to. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I used to tape television shows on audio cassettes. This was long before the days of VCRs and DVRs so the only way to keep the program was to do that. I was extremely happy and very much surprised to find out that I was not the only person who did this. I have found many people from my generation who did this as well. Anyway, keeping all of this in mind when you are listening to the preview screening of "Logan's Run". Enjoy!

A New Podcast!!! A New Podcast!!!

After a long absence from them (and many requests) here is the latest podcast! In all fairness, this was done over the last few months and was actually almost complete before Christmas but I left it on the back burner. After all that time, I gave it the proper finishing touches but alas, did not have the time to add any spoken word sections aka dialogue from yours truly. So this time around, it's an all music podcast. It does feature some great songs from the likes of Blondie, Suzi Quatro, They Might Be Giants, The Muffs with CC Deville, The Beatles, the Kinks, Orson Bean and more. There's even a super cool phone message sent to me from a Sunoco station on the day of a snow storm (obviously a wrong number!) Here it is for your listening entertainment! Enjoy!

Gilda Is On The Air

I love Gilda Radner. I sooo wish she was still around. She never ceases to make me smile no matter what I watch that features her. In 1979 Gilda fulfilled a life-long dream to be on Broadway when she performed "Gilda Live" at the Winter Garden Theater. It was filmed and recorded and a year later it was released as an album and a film. Around that same time, Warner Brothers released a radio special to local stations across the country to promote the film. Since the LP was the way things were done back then, the radio stations received the album in the mail and then basically played it on the air, giving their listeners a "special event" to listen to. That album lovingly sits in my collection and I share it with you now. Here is that great interview with the wonderful, Gilda. Enjoy!

Lucy And Desi Get Roasted

A huge event for the stars of I Love Lucy took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel November 23, 1958 in celebration of the Friars Club 10th Anniversary. These testimonial dinners eventually were called “roasts”. Making an appearance at this “roast” was Dean Martin who spoke at length and also sang a parody of “Volare” about Lucy & Desi accompanied by Ken Lane. There were also featured appearances by George Burns, Art Linkletter, George Murphy, Tony Martin, Milton Berle and several others. One of those several others was a comedian named Harry Einstein. His stage name was "Paryakarkas". The "roast" would be his last performance. Anywhere. Literally. During the night he collapsed onto Milton Berle's shoulder and died. A "private label" recording of this dinner was released sometime after and featured some hilarious performances but not the collapse of Mr. Einstein. “Now Here’s Something We Hope You’ll Really Like…”

There have been a number of children’s records based on cartoons. Today we share one that features Bill Scott, June Foray, Paul Frees and all the rest performing the voices of Rocky, Bullwinkle and the other characters we’ve come to know and love. This tells the story of how Rocky and his friends put this record together by way of original songs and audio from a few of the old cartoons themselves. This one popped up on the ol' playlist in the car the other day and my son thought it was great. In fact, he kept having me repeat the first track over and over because he loved it so much. Halloween-A-Thon 2011: That's Fronkensteen!

Mel Brooks has created some of the greatest comedies of all time but "Young Frankenstein" stands out as a work of art above all others (at least in my humble opinion). Gene Wilder wrote it but Mel gave it the direction it needed and together they created a masterpiece of cinema. The genius of Brooks is shown through the use of not only the same scenery as the original Frankenstein but the same camera angles as well. The film is quoted more and more through the years and I don't know anyone who has ever said "I don't like Young Frankenstein". As with other Brooks films, a soundtrack album was released that contained not just the great music from the film, but also contained dialogue from some of the best scenes as well. Here is that soundtrack album for you to listen to and add a pinch of humor to your Halloween festivities! Enjoy!

Halloween-A-Thon 2011: Readings From The Count (Dracula/Dooku)

Christopher Lee brought the Hammer Film's version of Dracula to life and in one of the few strokes of genius that George Lucas showed in his Star Wars Prequels, Lee appeared as Count Dooku, an evil Sith Lord. He also brought his fiendish talents to the role of the villian Saruman in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. His creepiness remains intact and he can still send a chill up my spine. Here are two collections of Lee reading from various Horror writings. The first is a collection of Edgar Allen Poe's works and the second a collection of various writers that is referred to as "Fireside Tales". The collection of Poe's tales were released as an audio book in the mid 80s while the "Fireside Tales" were originally broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on December 30th, 2004. Halloween-A-Thon 2011: The Voices of Horror (re-up)

As a kid, I was drawn to story albums and spoken word recordings. As you can tell by a lot of my posts, I still am. One of the ones that always caught my eye as a kid was a 1963 Wonderland Records release entitled, "Famous Monsters Speak". I would see it at the store and in ads in my comic books but alas, never obtained it in my youth. It would take me until the 21st Century (2003 to be exact) to obtain a copy for myself. It was well worth the wait! Voiced by former Dead End Kid, Gabriel Dell, the album consists of two tracks. The first (side 1) deals with the invention of a recording device that allows us to hear the thoughts of Frankenstein's Monster and the second (side 2) tells the tale of a reporter who has been entrapped in Dracula's Castle. The stories are real works of art in that they maintain an integrity not often found in children's records. They hold up well to this day and actually give great side stories to the original film versions of both characters. The Frankenstein story is very interesting in that it deals with the Monster's feelings towards his creator and his life, a side of the story that was included in the original Mary Shelley novel, but not portrayed in the Universal film version. I can't say enough great things about this album so I'll just say, here it is for your fright filled October enjoyment! Here's "Famous Monsters Speak". Enjoy!

I Have Pooh On My Blog

In the last half of the 90s I worked in a high school as a Resource Room Tutor. One day I happened to be walking down the hall wearing a shirt with Winnie The Pooh on the upper right hand corner. The teacher on hall duty saw me and said "You have Pooh on your shirt" to which I replied, "Oh jeez, I thought I had washed all of it off!" The joys of double entendre! Anyway, I told you that to tell you this; Winnie The Pooh was a favorite character of mine as a child and I couldn't go to bed without my stuffed Pooh Bear. I am happy to say that my son now shares this love of the character and it gave me a reason to digitize some of my Disney records so that I could put them on his i-pod and listen to them with him. One of those records I share with you today. It's the story of "Winnie The Pooh and Tigger, Too!" Like "The Story of Star Wars" and others, this is a story with the dialogue and music taken right from the soundtrack to the film. Before VHS, DVD and On-Demand, this was the only way to relive the films or tv shows at home over and over again. I share this with you in hopes that you not only enjoy it, but that you share it with your little ones. Here is "Winnie The Pooh and Tigger, Too". Enjoy!

Podcasts Boxed Set #3

By popular request, I decided to continue with the "boxed sets" of podcasts from the last few years of The World of Wonder. This time around we get a boxed set of Podcasts 11, 12, 13 & 14. This is where things got interesting for the podcast. I tried to do themes and the first all-music podcast came from this era. Also, the Soundtrack Edition of the Podcast was released which featured nothing but songs from film soundtracks.

These podcasts were much more spread out over time as I started getting busier and busier with other things so it made each one completely different from the one that came before it. Hopefully, it was all for the best. You can decide as you delve into the archives and listen again (or for some of you, the first time) to these podcasts from the past. Enjoy!

Judy Brings Out The Stars For The Men In Uniform

It's no secret that I love Judy Garland. I love her the same way that I love Elvis. I think her voice is amazing and her behavior even more so. There is no denying that classic voice and even though "Under The Rainbow" is a great song no matter who does it, Judy always did it best. During 1944 and 1945, Judy appeared on many Armed Forces Radio Services broadcasts entitled "Mail "Call" and "Command Performance". These were usually transcribed onto "V-Discs" and sent overseas to be played on the radio for servicemen everywhere. In the 90s, Laserlight put out a CD compilation of these entitled "Mail Call". The first half of the album features a show from May 17, 1944 and features Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante and Arthur Treacher. The second half of the album is from a June 3, 1944 broadcast of "Command Performance" that features Bing, Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra. Together they make a great compilation that I share with you today! Here is that great album. Enjoy!

Podcast 19 is Here!!!!

Here is the newest and, in my humble opinion, one of the better podcasts I have made! I really got into this one and tried to cover a lot of bases by including a lot of variety and fun mix-ups! There's some hilarious comedy, great music and a whole lot of fun stuff. The one thing that I really like about this podcast is the introduction. When I was a DJ in college, I hosted a show called "The Rich Dart Wacky Show" and used the same intro for the radio show. Also, I didn't speak in this one. As with the last time, I just couldn't find the time to put any commentary into the mix. It does flow rather well. Hope you think so. Enjoy!

Since Rapidshare has gone and deleted all but my most recent podcasts, I decided to make all the past podcasts available through mediafire. Rather than post each one separately, I thought I would post them in "boxed sets". That way, it's easier to get the full collection. If there are some you are missing, but don't need all of them, simply download the box sets and then delete the ones you have. It's as easy as that. Here is the first box set. It features Podcasts 1 - 5. You can actually hear them getting better as I was getting a good handle on how to make them. Podcast 18!!!!

Here is the latest podcast. It's entitled, "The Wolfman Jack Special". This is due to the fact that I have had the musical moments of the podcast finished and in the computer for about two or three months. I just haven't found the time to put together my little "DJ" parts into the mix. I solved the problem by not having those moments at all. Instead, I threw in some clips of the late, great Wolfman Jack to give it that great radio feel. You can hear the Wolfman in between some great songs by David Brookings, Freddy & The Dreamers, Mojo Nixon, Elvis, The Maggies, Hank III, Mrs. Miller, Chuck Berry, , Naked City, Billy Squier, Micky Dolenz and so much more.
