Halloween-A-Thon 2011 Begins!

It's October and that means blogs all over the internet are counting down the days until Halloween! We here at the World of Wonder are no exception. Seeing as how a lot of the back pages of the blog have been wiped away or a lot of my sharities have been removed by the facist rapidshare corporation, I've decided to mix some old with some new this year. Some of the Halloween goodies I will be sending your way have never appeared on the World of Wonder before, while others will make a very welcome return. The first post of "Halloween-A-Thon 2011" is an old friend that has been wiped off of the blog. We are pleased to welcome back Paul Lynde's Halloween Special!

I know that over the last few years this has been a hot commodity that almost every blog has posted it so I figured I would keep the tradition going by posting it here. If you have never seen the special, you need to run out to the store and get your copy right now. It is a classic and features a list of guest stars that would rival any episode of The Love Boat! It's also historic in that it features the first television appearance of the band, KISS. Here is the original television soundtrack to "The Paul Lynde Halloween Special". Enjoy!

Country and Rock & Roll: A Winning Combination

I happened to pop a Donny and Marie album onto my turntable today and was surprised to find it wasn't all that bad. Cheesy yes, bad - no. It was a later album that the brother and sister duo put out in the late seventies (1978 to be exact) when their TV show was in full swing. It was called, simply, "A Winning Combination". Both alluding to the fact that the combination of their talents paid off and the fact that they were winning the ratings wars for a variety show in prime time. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the combination of jeans and thigh high boots being worn by Donny on the cover. Decide for yourself if this is a "Winning Combination". Enjoy!

Showtime At Disneyland!

Back in 1970, the weekly television show, The Wonderful World of Disney, premiered an episode starring the Osmonds and Kurt Russell that was set at California's Disneyland. It was titled "Disneyland Showtime!" It featured Kurt showing the Osmonds around the Magic Kingdom. Today, here at the World of Wonder, you not only get to watch the entire episode (thanks to YouTube) but you get the complete soundtrack as well! Here are all five parts of the show followed by the download link for the soundtrack. Enjoy!

Fun In The Sun With The Siblings Of Song

With all the hoopla over Marie Osmond's comments about Miley Cyrus in the news these days (isn't there any thing really important that CNN should be reporting to us?!?!?), it seemed only fitting to present to you the soundtrack to Donny and Marie's one and only film tegether. Goin' Coconuts. This film is chock full of 70s schlock! It was released in 1978 and bombed hideously. While I can't seem to remember the entire plot, I know it involves some kind of zany spy spoof, Marie getting kidnapped, a necklace, five bad guys, Hawaii and plenty of singing. As a kid, I really wanted to see this film but never did (there's a reason for everything!). Instead I had to settle for the paperback novelization that I bought for some 50 cents or so from the Troll Book Club at school (remember those little newspapers?). As a matter of fact, I think I still have the book somewhere. Anyone interested in it? Let me know and I'll send it your way. However, when it comes to the soundtrack, I'm not parting with it. But I will share it with you here at the World of Wonder. In fact, here it is for you now. Enjoy!
