Podcast 28
It appears that I am dishing out these podcasts every week! This will probably be the last one for a bit as my time is going to be limited over the next few weeks. But oh what a way to end our little run! This one is soooooooo Wacky! It features some really cool tracks and some really cool commercials and really cool "creations" and you will love it! Guaranteed! Be on the lookout for some "space themed" tunes (hence the artwork!) and a special ode to Dr. Seuss that I recorded back in 1997. This one is pretty cool if I do say so myself. See if you agree as you take a listen to Podcast #28! Enjoy!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello all
I've debated for the past several months about what to do with the World of Wonder. I have very little time to devote to myself let alone the blog but I didn't want to end it. I tried something new by posting an e-mail address so that people could post items to share and make it more of a public blog. A majority of e-mail that I received was spam involving me inheriting millions of dollars from foreign investors, how to land single woman over 60 and how to make my penis larger. In between those were e-mails from people asking me to repost items that are no longer available. I had one person share something but I couldn't get the link to work. So, sadly, I am abandoning that part of the blog. I enjoy working on the blog and I do welcome comments and love hearing how people enjoy it. We recently hit the 200 subscriber part. I don't want to let it go entirely but I can't commit the time to it that I once did. I toyed with shutting the blog down but the one thing that I really wanted to keep going were my podcasts. I love them and love putting them together. I feel that by continuing to do these, I can still share great pop culture audio with all of you and still manage to keep the blog running. So, from here on in, I will be posting mostly new podcasts. Occasionally I may post an album or single or a video or what have you, but the majority of new items on the blog will be new podcasts. That being said, the reason I am downsizing to just podcasts is the lack of I time that I can donate to the blog. It's easy to put a series of songs, comedy bits, commercials, etc into a "mix tape" for a podcast but it takes time to sit down and speak to you through them as well. As a result, I will pretty much not be talking through any new podcasts that I post. If I find the time and feel like telling a funny story or two, I may one day set up my microphone and add some commentary but don't be surprised if you don't hear my voice in any of the new podcasts. In addition, it also takes time for me to tell you exactly what it is that I put into the podcasts and keeping track of it is just as time consuming as going back and listening to it to find out what is in it. So, don't expect a play list on the podcasts. If there is a specific track that you are interested in knowing, send me a comment asking about it and I will do my best to let you know who and what it is. Otherwise, treat it like listening to the radio and not hearing the DJ tell you what it is. Let it be what it is meant to be; entertainment for your ears.
In regards to all of the requests to re-up any past sharities that have dead links or are no longer working - all I can say is I'm sorry. I simply do not have time to go back and re-up any of them. Once they are gone, they're gone. Odds are they are out there on-line somewhere as the "sharity blog" community is a pretty incestuous bunch and we all re-use each other's items. Again, it's nothing personal, it's just that I have no time at all to do that. I wish I could go back and re-up everything that has been taken down but it doesn't look like that will happen in the immediate future.
So, thank you for helping me keep the World of Wonder alive and hopefully we can keep it going at least a little bit longer.
That being said, here is the newest podcast. Podcast 22 delivers a lot for your money. Featuring some great songs from William Shatner, Mi Carame, Barnes and Barnes, the Police, the Monkees/Adele and a heaping portion of comedy this time around. Enjoy!

McTrek
I remember the first Happy Meal. It came out in conjunction with Star Trek The Motion Picture and was called a Star Trek Meal. I remember being so excited to get one. Mine was the one that had the transporter on the box. I kept that box forever. I don't know whatever happened to it. I think my parents finally threw it away years later. It was the coolest thing ever. And then came the Happy Meal and the rest is history. Here's a commercial for that super cool meal from way back when. Enjoy!

Podcasts Boxed Set #3

By popular request, I decided to continue with the "boxed sets" of podcasts from the last few years of The World of Wonder. This time around we get a boxed set of Podcasts 11, 12, 13 & 14. This is where things got interesting for the podcast. I tried to do themes and the first all-music podcast came from this era. Also, the Soundtrack Edition of the Podcast was released which featured nothing but songs from film soundtracks.

These podcasts were much more spread out over time as I started getting busier and busier with other things so it made each one completely different from the one that came before it. Hopefully, it was all for the best. You can decide as you delve into the archives and listen again (or for some of you, the first time) to these podcasts from the past. Enjoy!

Podcasts Boxed Set #2

Here is the second boxed set of podcasts from the past. This time around it features Podcasts #6 - 10. This is where I really got into doing the podcasts and really found my groove. There are some great moments in these podcasts! I hope you enjoy them.

And as I said yesterday, I am about 95% finished with my next podcast which I think is one of the best ones I have done in a while. Entertain yourselves with these past ones and I'll work on getting the new one finished and posted. Enjoy!

The Podcast Boxed Sets

Since Rapidshare has gone and deleted all but my most recent podcasts, I decided to make all the past podcasts available through mediafire. Rather than post each one separately, I thought I would post them in "boxed sets". That way, it's easier to get the full collection.

Swing, Baby Swing

I just recently started playing with a really cool swing/rockabilly band called The Shiny Lapel Trio. You've probably heard them and never knew it. They've provided the music for two national commercials for Kohl's Department Stores. Anyway, the band is heavily influenced by acts such as Dean Martin, Louis Prima, Elvis, and Brian Setzer. In fact, the guitarist loves Setzer so much that he even plays a Brain Setzer Model Gretsch Guitar. It made me break out some old Setzer as well as some recent stuff. One of the cooler items I have in my collection is a bootleg of a concert The Brian Setzer Orchestra did in 1998. I was thinking that it wasn't that long ago but I now realize that it is over ten years old. My, how time flies! Anyway, this exceptional sounding concert is today's sharity. Here is "The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Boston 98". Enjoy!

The Night HE Was on The Radio (re-post)

Here are a few radio commercials from the original release of John Carpenter's Halloween back in 1978. This has always been one of my favorite horror films and without a doubt my favorite slasher film. I love this and the sequel. After that, I think the plot lines get a little out of hand. Though I did enjoy Halloween Ressurection. Anyway, here are those commercials for your listening pleasure! Enjoy!

Alvin Rotten, Simon Vicious & Theodore Thunders

I just finished reading "ROTTEN" by Johnny Lydon. It's an autobiography all about his days with the Sex Pistols. I'm not going to tell you it was great because there were parts where it was really hard to get through and I almost didn't finish it. It was informative but a little bit too self-righteous. Regardless, it did get me in the mood for some good old 70s punk. Then I thought of that great TV commercial that was on television in 1980 for an album called "Chipmunk Punk". Chipmunk Punk was the "comback album" for the Chipmunks. They had been in the "where are they now" file for years due to the death of their creator, Ross Bagdasarian a.k.a. David Seville. No one had even thought of the Chipmunks until one day when a DJ on at KMET named Chuck Taylor played the 12" version of the Blondie's "Call Me" at double speed and announced that it was the Chipmunks' latest single. So many requests came for this "new" Chipmunks release, that Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and his collaborator Steve Vining rushed to record this album, which became the first new Chipmunks album since The Chipmunks Go To The Movies in 1969. This was the start of the "second generation" Chipmunks. The Chipmunks returned to public view via Saturday morning repeats of the cartoon series The Alvin Show on NBC. The album sparked a second run of the characters and led to another Saturday morning cartoon series, Alvin and the Chipmunks, which began in 1983 and also aired on NBC. And then there was that movie last year. In all honesty, the "second wave" of Chipmunks never really appealed to me other than this album. Since there was new technology in the recording industry, it was easier to make the voices and as a result, they lost something that the original recordings had. Either way, this album was huge and I remember wanting it so badly. Of course, the title should have been "Chipmunk New Wave" as it didn't feature one punk song. Anyway, here is that album for you now. As a side note, the CD release of this has the songs in a completely different order. Here is the original album in the original order. Enjoy!

Amazing Commercials of Yesteryear
After watching these clips I thought to myself, how come commercials aren't this great now?! You would think they would attempt these cool special effects now with all the CGI we have going on. What do you think?
