Yogi and The Stooges

There's been a lot of talk about the new Three Stooges movie the Farrelly brothers are threatening to make. For those of you who don't know, they are planning on making an all new three stooges film based on the old Columbia shorts. This is not going to be a bio pic. They have already cast Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Jim Carey as Curly and they had Sean Penn as Larry until he backed out last week. It was nice to hear someone had enough sense to back out! When is Hollywood going to realize that you can't remake people! Movies, yes but people, no. The three stooges worked because they were a comedy team that honed their chemistry and timing over years and years on the vaudeville circuit. They weren't just thrown together to make a film. If the Farrelly brothers are true fans, they will realize this and give up on this idea.
Anyway, now that I am done ranting, it's time for today's sharity. Obviously it has something to do with the 3 Stooges. It's actually a children's album from 1966 that was produced and released by Hanna-Barbera Records. The album presents the Three Stooges (Moe, Larry and Curly-Joe) as inept park rangers who are called upon to rescue Yogi Bear (played by Daws Butler) after he is kidnapped by Dr. No-No, a nefarious scientist who invented a machine that turns people into animals. This was the last album that the Three Stooges would record. It has become a classic and is highly sought after by collectors. BTW, the whole Dr No No character is a play on the famous Dr. No from the James Bond series. The first Bond film, Dr. No, had just been a major hit and it seemed that everyone was trying to cash in on it. And obviously the Mad, Mad, Mad part was a cash in on It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. HB was cashing in on everything. Which is strange because this album was aimed at children and not the adults that were going to to see the films that the title was based on. I guess in a way they were trying to make the kids feel like their parents who were going to see the movies. Anyway, here for you now is "
Yogi Bear and the Three Stooges Meet the Mad, Mad, Mad Dr. No-No". Enjoy!
